Avontuur in Amsterdam

Weekend of March 7

The weekend of March 7 marked my third trip during my study abroad travels to Amsterdam. Me and my family visited Amsterdam when I was a junior in high school to visit one of my sisters best friends who was doing her study abroad in Cophenagan and met up with us in the Netherlands. I remember falling in love with the charming city with its atmospheric quarters and quaint canals. I had tickets to see Energy Fest a concert festival that featured djs such Martin Sloveig, Otto Knows, and many more!

We arrived in Amsterdam early Friday morning and checked into our hostel, the Bull Dog. The hostel is in an amazing location and two blocks away from Dan Square. It included breakfast which is a major peek for us frugal study abroad types. We bundled up and headed out to get a traditional Dutch breakfast consisting of Dutch pancakes and cider beer!

Post breakfast we walked to the Anne Frank Haus for the house tour (this was my second time going there) and it was just as emotionally exhausting as it was the first time around.

The next stop on our list was the Heineken Museum which is a museum tour that shows you how beer is made and the history of the company. Definitely a must see for anyone who enjoys a nice brewski.

DAY 2

The next day we did a canal boat cruise which I highly recommend especially when it's chilly out because its heated and enclosed. For 12 euro you embark on an hour long cruise through all of Amsterdam's canals- what an interesting way to see the city!

That afternoon we walked around the city and did a little souvineer shopping and took a stroll down one of Amsterdam's most visited location, the red light district.

Amsterdam's Ziggodom

We got back to the hostel early to get ready for the concert, Energy Fest. The concert opened its doors at 1030 and we got there right around 11 to get front row and sure enough we did!

Sunday we had an early morning flight so we quickly went to the I am Amsterdam square to take pictures and explore another side of the city! What a great way to end another amazing trip.
